India woos Saudi tourists in big wayDubai, Oct 6: India kicked off a tourism roadshow in Riyadh today aiming to draw Saudi tourists to the many attractions in India, ranging from the majestic Himalayas to the golden beaches of Goa, and also to project the country as a world-class medical tourism destination.
Minister of State for Tourism Sultan Ahmed is leading a large delegation of officials from the Ministry of Tourism, executive directors of Government of India Tourist Office (GOITO) in Dubai and Tokyo, and a large contingent of Indian tour operators to the roadshow organised by the GOITO, Dubai, in collaboration with the Embassy of India, Riyadh.
Nine top Indian tour operators from all over India were participating in the event and around 80 Saudi tour operators were expected to attend. Doctors and heads of hospitals were also expected to attend the event in view of the medical tourism component, the Arab News said.
The event includes detailed presentations on Indian tourism, buyer-seller meetings between Indian tour operators and Saudi tour operators, a raffle draw to conclude with. The participants would also have a taste of Indian delicacies.
The event is aimed at introducing a variety of tourism packages to Saudis with a view to attract tourists from all walks of life. The medical tourism component of the event would highlight the growing and advanced medical treatment facilities available in India.
