Healthcare Travel Exhibition & Congress 2009 took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Dubai is known to be a luxury travel destination and this booming gateway to the world is scheduled to open Dubai Healthcare City by 2010. This exciting development is the world's first healthcare free zone, boasts two complementary communities: the Medical Community and the Wellness Community. The Medical Community, which focuses on acute care services, occupies an area of 4.1 million square feet. The Wellness Community covers 19 million square feet. The entire project will be the largest international medical center between "East" and "West".

The United Arab Emirates and the Middle East as a whole represent one of the world's biggest markets for outbound medical travel. The United Arab Emirates alone sent nearly 92,000 patients overseas for various medical services in 2007.

Dubai has established itself as an important international trading center and the regional hub of the Middle East's commercial activity. Major investments in infrastructure, logistics and free zone facilities have secured Dubai's essential role as the main import and re-export center connecting the Middle East with the world.

Dubai is the prime tourist destination in the Gulf where a vibrant modern city meets a unique Middle Eastern culture.
